Bank of Russia plans to release a record on the weight of gold coin

Bank of Russia has scheduled the first half of 2010 to issue to its 150-anniversary series of commemorative gold and silver coins. According to a site plan CBR release, as part of the series is scheduled to release a record on the weight for the Bank of Russia 5-kilo gold coins valued at 50 thousand rubles.

Experts estimate the cost of the metal, that of the 50-pound coin, at current prices of gold (more than $ 1000 per troy ounce) of $ 160 thousand, or nearly 5 million rubles. Accordingly, when declaring circulation coins - to 50 - the purchase of metal for its production will cost 230 million rubles.

Weight of coins will be a record for Russia's central bank. Prior to that the worst was a coin, released in 2008 in connection with the 190 th anniversary of Goznak, - 3-kilogram gold coin 25 thousand rubles.
Demand for coins of gold and other precious metals increased in recent years against the backdrop of crises in international financial markets.
